Venice Takes a Step Towards Self Care

The city of Venice, after years of deliberation, has finally decided to make a bold move in efforts to preserve its beauty, by charging a tariff reflective of the amount of people already occupying, or have reserved to occupy the city at any given day. This beloved ancient city is no less deserving of respect than any other ancient art, and Venice embodies art like no other city.

Bold decisions like these are absolutely the way forward to preserving its artistic fingerprint… and what a fingerprint! What does this achieve? Less polluted waters, more liveable conditions for locals and something very important in the appreciation of art: SILENCE.
Just as in a museum, your appreciation for a particular painting grows when you’re allowed to reflect in silence. Venice is such a painting. I invite you to examine every palace room by room. Travel by gondola and use the silence to admire architectural mastery around every corner.

Another advantage is that Venice just became extraordinarily child friendly. Have you ever been in a dense crowd with small children? My mother used to dress, my sisters and I in humiliating identical neon coloured jumpsuits for fear she would lose us in the masses. Less people means that children will be able to enjoy Venice as well. After all children six and under don’t pay. Has Venice just become the first 'amusement park' dedicated to attracting children to art and architecture? I’d like to think so. After all, everyone knows that in Italy, children come first.
