On the 24th of May, a primary school in Texas was invaded by a school shooter, killing 19 students and 2 adults.

The 18 year old who attacked the school used a semi-automatic rifle, a gun that is commercially available in America to 18 year olds.

I am not going to go through the scientific reasoning as to why an 18 year old's brain has not fully developed into an adult's brain, and therefore by no means should have access to a weapon that can kill as well as severely injure, however, I pose some questions that will cause you to consider the absurdity of gun laws in the US.

How is it that a teenager of 18 years is able to purchase a life-threatening gun and cannot purchase a celebratory drink?? How come, an individual with no expertise or skillset is able to walk into Walmart and purchase a gun along with daily groceries?

The countless studies and statistics are by all means not negligible. Is it merely a coincidence that the country with the highest rate of mass shootings and the highest rate of civilian guns owned per 100 people (120.5) is the US?? No, it is not.

I urge you to consider how many fatalities occur as a result of the lenient gun laws in the US and share your voice on the matter. If you have access to Netflix, I also recommend that you watch the short film "If Anything Happens I Love You," it brought me to tears.
