Just recently the Louvre posted its collection online, so that art fanatics, such as myself, can view the collection at just one click of a button! Incredible artworks are finally at our disposal.

I have never been to the Louvre but I have always wanted to go, and I will say that posting their collection online is incredibly astute, given the circumstances. Not only will this stimulate tourism when COVID-19 restrictions lessen, but it will encourage others to do the same.

We are living in an increasingly digital age and it is important to keep up with the times. Placing collections online will increase global exposure to complex and stimulating art. I have noticed, talking to a few of my friends, that we are growing ignorant to classical art and no longer appreciate it on the level we used to. We have grown accustomed to "fast art," such as small splatters of paint placed in arbitrary corners of canvases. Having digital access to a multitude of artwork expands our knowledge, and I firmly believe Italy should consider doing the same for its museums.
