In a little town where tourism is a vibrant thread in the fabric of the Italian economy, it is sad to see historical emblems left in ruins. L'Orologio Pizza lived as a small restaurant in the city of Taormina appreciated by both locals and tourists. Unfortunately, its growing success was short lived, L'Orologio was recently closed down due to COVID causing a shortage of income. When speaking to the owner of a neighboring restaurant, I discovered that it had been long established and that the food was truly scrumptious.

As teenagers, when we think of COVID we simply dwell on the missed opportunities for us. "I don't get to see my friends as much" and "I missed out on an entire year of social situations,"are phrases that I often heard from close friends. It is true, in one way or another we have all suffered from this pandemic, but when I stop to think about how lucky I am to call these my "problems", they seem almost insignificant. People have lost their jobs, are facing serious domestic abuse in the household, and are suffering from depression! Unfortunately, however, the media has moved on from such news stories and we no longer hear about the lasting implications of acting too slowly to save our population from COVID.
